Summer Employment

Thank you for your interest in a staff and/or volunteer position at Lions Camp Merrick in Nanjemoy, Maryland. Our camp is among the very best in the Mid-Atlantic region and our Lions Camp Merrick/Glyndon Diabetes Programs are second to none.

Counselors and Program Staff please be at camp by June 19th, 2017,  orientation and training will start June 20, 2017, please be prepared to start orientation by 8:00 a.m.

Program Staff please be at camp on June 16 if you are doing Ropes training, it will be held at LCM from June 17 to 19, 2017.  Exact dates for Archery, Canoe and Life Guard training have not been set and will be posted as soon as possible.

Please note: All certified staff must have first aide and CPR certifications that are current for the summer session. These certifications are not offered or paid for by Lions Camp Merrick.

Program Director 21 Leadership Experience in camping, recreation or a related field. Implement a quality camper program, supervise and assist staff, lead special interest activities, enforce policies and procedures.
Nurses 21 Experience or interest in pediatric nursing. License required. First Aid and CPR. Carry out a program for camp health and safety, responsible for first aid and medications.
Dietician 21 Course or training in the area of special dietary needs. Planning all special diets, assist in food prep., and other related kitchen duties.
Swimming Instructor 18 Experience in instructional and swim program supervision. WSI, Lifeguard, pool operator, First Aid, and CPR certifications. Perform pool maintenance and develop a program of swim instruction and a safe general swim program.
Lifeguard 18 Certified in Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid. Perform pool maintenance and provide a safe general swim program.
Canoe Instructor 18 Experience with small water craft such as rowboats, canoes, kayaks, and sailboards. First Aid, CPR, Canoe Instructor and WSI. Teach basic small water craft skills, and develop a safe and enjoyable boating program.
Archery 18 Experience or training in archery and archery certification. Teach a safe and enjoyable archery program.
Challenge Course Instructor 18 Experience or training in Challenge Course instruction, certification. First Aid and CPR. Operate the high and low challenge course and climbing wall in a safe and effective manner.
Arts and Crafts Instructor 18 Experience in a wide variety of crafts activities. Teach basic craft and nature craft skills.
Nature Program Instructor 18 Experience or training in nature lore and outdoor education activities. CPR and First Aid certificate. Interest in camping and knowledge about camping equipment. Teach environmental education and nature lore, assist development of the nature center and nature program. Organize and pack food and equipment for campouts and trips.
Counselors 18 Experience or training in working with children. Leadership and guidance of 5-7 campers in a cabin group on a weekly basis.
Counselor In Training (CIT) 17 To gain experience or training in working with children. To gain experience with leadership and guidance of 5-7 campers in a cabin group on a weekly basis.
Housekeeping 18 Food preparation, and willing to provide general facility clean up. Assist in food preparation, serving and general kitchen, dining hall and camp cleaning.

Health Assistant 20 Certification or interest in health care. First Aid and CPR certifications. Assist nurses in providing health care services to campers.
